Tales From the Topside of the Dirt
What makes a location constantly call you back? Is it the type of location? Is it an experience you had? Is it a particular spirit you have contacted? For me one place stands out. One place I return to every year. That place is Edinburgh Manor in Scotch Grove Iowa. Once a poor farm, turned to a home for the disabled, it is now a place famous for its hauntings. Ghost Adventures aired its episode there in 2015. I had literally just started a team. It is only 4 and a half hours from me, so I booked an overnight in 2016. This was the first big location I had booked for a private investigation. We were green and very inexperienced. But the moment I walked in I was hooked. It is still the only place that gives me the creeps, even during the day. It never feels like you are alone. We had so many experiences that night. Particularly in Room 200 just to the left of the center stairwell on floor 2. We encountered what we believe is a spirit named Barabara. We were using a K2 meter that my wife was holding. Babrbara was using the K2 to directly respond to yes and no questions. It was truly mind blowing. Especially with how new we were. It was also strange that when the camera's fully charged battery died the activity immediately stopped. One of the best experiences we have had to date. We couldn't wait to go back. We had a similar experience with a spirit we believe is named Steve at the end of the night. I have been back to Edinburgh Manor 10 times since that 1st time. We now stay for 2 nights there. We have experienced so many different things of the years. From disembodied voices to shadow figures in the basement. There is something mysterious and sometimes deceiving there. It seems to get stranger every time we go. We have even heard footsteps on the ceiling in the dining room downstairs. Some of the best evidence I have captured has come from that place. One thing is for sure. I will return every year I am able to.
